Teaching

Alongside his career as a professional countertenor, Richard teaches singing to pupils at two schools in the Kent area and offers private singing tuition from his home in south-east London.

Richard’s teaching is rooted in the practical demands of professional performance. Lessons combine clear, healthy vocal technique with stylistic and interpretative coaching through repertoire, helping singers to develop confidence, consistency and individuality in their voices. Drawing on his experience as a performer, Richard places particular emphasis on musical communication, text, and stylistic awareness.

He offers specialist guidance for singing in Italian, French, German and Spanish, and teaches singers of all ages and abilities, from beginners to advanced students, and all voice types. Lessons are available for both children and adults, and can take place either in person or online.

Richard’s pupils have already gained professional experience: one current student recently sang the role of the Shepherd Girl in the Royal Ballet and Opera’s production of Tosca (November 2024). Richard is also happy to prepare pupils for ABRSM graded singing examinations, as well as music festivals.
